Founded to
The Beginning
Pritlove was founded by Eleanor Anne Pritlove Cox in 2014, but the "beginning" really it goes back much further than that. Learning how to sew when she was six, she fell in love with fibers, form, creating movement, and building a movable structure for the human body. "The rest is history."
What's in the Name
"Pritlove," Eleanor's middle name, pays homage to Eleanor's late grandmother- a woman who also shared a love for fashion and the art of constructing a beautifully-crafted garment.
Nature and Fashion
Along with being one of the driving sources of inspiration in Pritlove design development, Eleanor's love for nature goes beyond merely aesthetic. Continuing to feel the need to preserve the beauty of the natural world she grew up in, she minored in Sustainability and Ethics at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Re-purposing fabrics, using found materials, sourcing organic, natural fibers, and producing small quantities is the start of what Pritlove is doing to reduce the amount of waste the industry creates.
As the company grows, Eleanor hopes to invest in becoming a fully-sustainable, circular organization, from the crop to the garment, to recycling.
